1970年2月3日的ESP班课，第2册中有一段，其中 有 identify with sb 这个词组：

当 “小 ”的自己说：“我害怕，我会找种种借口 ”时，你必须想象那个更大的自己说：“我很强大。我不会允许较小的自己找种种借口。那些借口是不需要的。”你必须认同/识别出那更大部分的自己。

And when the “little” self says, “I am afraid and I will make excuses,” you must imagine the larger self saying, “I am strong. I will not allow the smaller self to make excuses. There is no need for them.” You must identify with the larger portion of your self.

我觉得翻译为 认同 比较好
（to feel that you are similar to someone in some way and that you can understand that person or their situation because of this:）

如果是单个 identify sb 的话， 翻译为 识别 比较好。
（to recognize someone or something and say or prove who or what that person or thing is）
